This Privacy Policy explains how Datum ("Datum," "we," "us") handles information in connection with the datumcost.com website and the Datum application (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to this Policy.

1. Information we collect

Account & contact information — name, work email, company name, and phone if you provide it, when you sign up, start a trial, request information, or subscribe to our cost index.
Documents and cost data you provide — the invoices, supplier quotes, subcontractor messages, payroll exports, estimates, and related records you upload or connect so Datum can build your cost record.
Billing information — processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers on our systems.
Usage & device data — basic, privacy-preserving analytics about how the Service is used (we use cookieless web analytics for the marketing site).

2. How we use information

To provide the Service — reading your documents and building, maintaining, and analyzing your cost record.
To create and manage your account, organization, trial, and subscription.
To communicate with you about your account, support, and (with your consent where required) the cost index and product updates.
To secure, maintain, and improve the Service.

3. How we share information

We share information only as needed to run the Service:

Service providers acting on our behalf — e.g., Stripe (payments), Close (CRM/communications), and Cloudflare (hosting/infrastructure) — bound to protect your information.
Legal reasons — to comply with law or protect rights, safety, and security.
Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

What we do not do: We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your cost data with other builders. We do not use the documents you upload to train third-party or public AI models.

4. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, then retain and delete it in line with our retention practices and legal obligations. You can request deletion as described below.

5. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard the data you entrust to us. Business customers can request our data-processing terms.

6. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live (including under the California CCPA/CPRA and, where applicable, the EU/UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing. 7. Cookies & analytics

Our marketing site uses privacy-preserving, cookieless analytics. The application may use cookies strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to operate the Service.

8. Children

The Service is for businesses and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their information.

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the "Last updated" date; material changes may be communicated to you directly.
